Rebecca is a top war photographer. On assignment while photographing a female suicide bomber in Kabul, she is badly hurt. Back home another bomb drops. Her husband and daughters can no longer bear the thought of her dying while at work. She is given an ultimatum: Her work, or her family life.
Juliette Binoche gives a performance of immense emotion in this expansive film. It oscillates between domestic drama and war film, all the while retaining an immediacy with its characters and a deep-felt sensitivity to the world. This is cinema as humanism, and a drama of great emotional resonance.
