Synopsis

Piti, a white Brazilian woman, is married to Antonio, a man from the Ashaninka indigenous community. Back in the 70s, their marriage was a revolutionary decision that triggered a process of social, political, and communal change. They fought for their love as they fought for their land and children.

MUBI's take

Directed by fimmaking duo Vincent Carelli and Wewito Piyãko, Antônio & Piti portrays an unusual romance and the winds of revolution that came with it. Tackling topics like prejudice, political corruption, and environmental practices, this richly textured film is a lesson in observational cinema.
