In a small Mexican village in the state of Jalisco, deteriorating economic and social conditions have led to a wave of suicides among its young people. In Caballerango conversations around town return to one subject in particular: the recent suicide of a young horse wrangler named Nando.
Attentive to the sounds and rhythms of village life, Mexican director Juan Pablo González documents rural traditions on the brink of disappearance. In beautiful long takes and told through multiple perspectives, this ethereal documentary remains rooted in an exploration of grief and community.
