A beauty salon in Beirut is a safe haven for five women in this Lebanese romantic comedy. As they share in each other’s experiences and emotions, the salon becomes a colorful epicenter of friendship as the women search for the answers to questions of life, love, and happiness.
Lebanese director Nadine Labaki (Capernaüm) made quite a splash with her sensual, funny, Beirut-set debut. A triple threat, Labaki wrote, directed, and starred in this alternately touching and charming ode to female friendship, which touches on the many issues facing women with directness and humor.
