Cézanne et Moi explores the dramatic real-life friendship between two 19th-century French artists, painter Paul Cézanne and writer Émile Zola. The impoverished Zola and wealthy Cézanne first meet as thirteen year-olds. They share everything, but eventually the timid Zola will eclipse his friend.
Starring Guillaume Canet, Guillaume Gallienne, and the great Sabine Azéma, this princely biopic charts the parallel lives of two of the most significant artists of the 19th century. Gorgeously realized and suitably sun-dappled, Cézanne and I is an engaging story of art world rivalry and friendship.
