Two women, a mother and her daughter, one migrated to Germany from Turkey, the other having grown up in Germany, speak about their lives and describe living between two cultures. The mother arrived in Germany as a guest worker, while her daughter, now 24, survived a painful arranged marriage.
Working in a women’s shelter, Serap Berrakkarasu met someone who would form the beating heart of her first film. Juxtaposing troubled accounts of domestic life with portentous scenes of a wedding, this tenderly made documentary is imbued with hope for other worlds of untold possibility.
