Elderly Jewish widow Daisy is determined to maintain her independence. But when she crashes her car, her son arranges for her to have a chauffeur, an African-American man named Hoke. Daisy and Hoke’s relationship gets off to a rocky start, but they gradually form a close friendship over the years.
Based on the Pulitzer prize-winning play, this tale of a hard-won friendship between an elderly Jewish woman and her African-American driver was lauded for addressing racism, injustice and prejudice while conveying a message of tolerance. The film nabbed 4 Oscars, including Best Picture!
