Greta just moved to a new town with her family. She floats in a bubble of loserdom with her only friend Elliott, until her parents throw her a surprise 15th birthday party and she’s flung into a parallel place; a world that’s weirdly erotic, violent, and ludicrous – only there can she find herself.
Girl Asleep follows main character Greta as she rejects her extravagant mother and the pressures of high school to escape in her own fantasy trip. Reminiscent of the stylized comedies of Wes Anderson, this wacky coming-of-age story set in the Australian suburbia is an absolute blast.
