Hello My Dear is named after Arkadaş Z. Özger’s famous poem which caused much controversy when it was first published. 50 years after the poem was written, this documentary reaches out to the family, friends and comrades of Arkadaş, departing from the official historical accounts about him.
Poet, revolutionary, queer icon. The poetry of Arkadaş Z. Özger was subverting heteronormativity among leftist circles of Turkey in the 1960s and ‘70s. Ulaş Tosun’s documentary follows the verses of this extraordinary figure to paint a complex picture of an era, as well as 25 years of his life.
