When Chilean poet Pablo Neruda arrives on a tiny Italian isle, there’s so much new mail that Mario, an uneducated layabout, is hired as a postman. Mario soon becomes a student of the poet. A firm friendship develops, and the postman soon turns into a changed man.
Before Pablo Larraín’s biopic, another film had portrayed Pablo Neruda but through a peculiar angle: via an enamoured postman in Italy! Philippe Noiret plays the famous Chilean poet who shares his gift for romance and words in this sweet ode to poetry. Winner of the Oscar® for Best Music.
