Eric Bishop seems to be at the end of his rope. His wife has left him, his stepsons are giving him hell, and he’s even having troubles with his post office job. Then, after Eric smokes a joint, his idol, footballer Eric Cantona, appears and dispenses advice that improves the postman’s life.
Looking for Eric is an oddity amongst Loach’s filmography. While his passion for football is well known to his fans, he caught us all by surprise casting Eric Cantona in the role of a friendly ghost (!). A tragicomedy of magical realism, imbued with absurd, affecting humour.
