Synopsis

Surrealist artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore were a lesbian couple and step-sisters who lived and worked together all their lives. Heroic resisters to the Nazis occupying the island of Jersey during World War II, they were captured and sentenced to death.

MUBI's take

The lesbian couple Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore were artists bending the limits of gender in early 20th century Europe. Through archival photographs, interviews, and lyrical re-enactments, Barbara Hammer’s hybrid documentary delves into the fascinating lives and works of these queer visionaries.
