In a mine explosion in Turkey, three miners were killed. İlyas begins to collect signatures to take the necessary measures, but solidarity cannot be provided among the miners. Before the town gets over the accident, a carnival troupe comes to town, and İlyas falls for a girl in the troupe.
Yavuz Özkan’s Maden epitomizes the working-class melodramas of 1970s Turkish cinema. Featuring a stellar cast including Cüneyt Arkın, Tarık Akan, and Hale Soygazi, and focusing on the struggle between miners, mine owners, and unions, this timeless classic strikes a universal chord.
