Roland acts as a reporter and is called by a famous personality to a country estate to interview him. Roland believes that he may be responsible for the disappearance of his sister.
In this Agatha-Christie-meets-Hitchcock charade, no one is as they seem. Gastronomy is both the sin and the pleasure of the bourgeoisie as known gourmet Chabrol stuffs the film with gorgeous, beautiful meals. The flowing of red wine, however, hints at torrents of perverse and murderous intent.
