Synopsis

Guinevere Pettigrew, a middle-aged London governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. An attempt to gain new employment catapults her into the dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer.

MUBI's take

Relax with this light-hearted charmer, which revives the glamor and fancy of old screwball comedies and delightfully matches Frances McDormand and Amy Adams as a witty odd couple. A breezy, gentle farce based on Winifred Watson’s eponymous ’30s novel and set in pre-war London.
