One day, when he was still a child, the filmmaker found an incomplete set of postcards photographed in his family’s village. These six postcards show events that took place in the village, near the Spanish border, when the Republicans arrived in France at the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939.
A personal discovery triggers the investigation at the core of this first-person documentary, which tells of a shameful and too-little-known chapter in history. Through the meticulous observation of postcards, the film unearths the treatment of Spanish refugees in France following Spain’s Civil War.
