In 1960s Paris, aspiring singer Pomme befriends pregnant Suzanne. Pomme lends money for an abortion, but tragedy separates them. A decade later, they reconnect and vow to stay in touch via postcards, their lives transformed by the women’s liberation movement.
Set against the backdrop of the Women’s Liberation movement in France, Agnès Varda’s feminist musical bursts with the joy of activism and community. Battling against patriarchal strictures that oppress women’s bodies, this portrait of female friendship celebrates the radical power of chosen family.
