Synopsis

Akihiro, a Japanese filmmaker living in Paris, returns to Japan to make a documentary about survivors of the A-bombing. Deeply moved by the interviews, he decides to take a break. Wandering through the city, he meets Michiko, a merry and enigmatic young woman with outdated manners.

MUBI's take

The second feature of French filmmaker Jean-Gabriel Périot (A German Youth) deftly handles one of the most heartbreaking tragedies of the twentieth century—the bombing of Hiroshima—with prodigious compassion and care. Watch as the sparks of a fledgling romance fly from the traumas of the past.
