In a nightmarish world where zombies rule, two families living on a tiny island are locked in a struggle for power over the fate of the undead. The O’Flynn’s approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude, while the Muldoon’s keep the zombies alive in hopes of finding a solution.
A loosely connected sequel to Diary of the Dead, this fusion of zombie movie and western would be George A. Romero’s directorial swan song. Playing loving, widescreen tribute to William Wyler’s classic oater The Big Country, Survival of the Dead is an ingenious mash-up of its respective genre lores.
