On an ordinary day, a small Egyptian band called Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra arrives in Israel for the inaugural ceremony of an Arab arts center. With no delegation to meet them on site, they soon discover they’ve arrived in the wrong town.
A delightful cross-cultural comedy that tackles serious issues with a light touch, Eran Kolirin’s Cannes award-winner makes the most of its idiosyncratic, fish-out-of-water set-up. Witty compositions and terrific performances lead the charge of a crowd-pleaser that would become a Broadway musical!
