Muriel and Philippe work for an intelligence agency and form an unlikely pair. Their latest assignment is to find a memory stick hidden by Constance, the widow of a murdered uranium trafficker. This strangely naïve, wealthy woman leads the couple to an opera singing class filled with other spies.
Director Ilan Duran Cohen has called his film The Joy of Singing an “anti-romantic comedy,” but it’s also a bizarre and bravely unpredictable policier. With sharp-witted dialogue, and starring actors Jeanne Balibar and Marina Foïs, this spy caper excels in the charming absurdism of its script.
