Stranded in small country due to bad weather, passengers of a trans-euro train must hole up in a small hotel for the night. Socialite Iris Henderson meets old governess, Miss Froy, who vanishes without a trace by sunrise. The young woman investigates the mysterious disappearance.
Though The 39 Steps is better known, this is our personal favorite of Hitchcock’s 30s capers. It’s a fabulous spy story and a frisky, sparklingly comic romance between Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave. Plus, it introduced the world to the cricket-obsessed double act of Caldicott and Charters!
