In the heart of Rome stands Il Palazzo. Like a renaissance patron, its owner offered shelter to an eclectic group of friends, turning it into an art commune. At other times, though, it served as an excuse for procrastination, while everything revolved around a charismatic Pygmalion figure: Mauro.
Fragments of an unfinished film are threaded through Federica Di Giacomo’s capacious film, exploring community, creativity, and the inescapable passage of time. From spectral scraps of footage, an image of a lost friend is assembled by a motley troupe of artists in this wistful, playful documentary.
