Three friends live practically on the streets of Istanbul, cadging small jobs to make ends meet. Then they meet Gül, a beautiful blind girl who has given up all hope. The friends decide to pretend that they’re actually wealthy socialites who together share a classic villa in a posh part of town.
Memduh Ün’s classical melodrama has been a source of inspiration for the Yeşilçam Era for many decades. Penned together with other great auteurs of Turkish cinema, such as Metin Erksan and Atıf Yılmaz, Three Friends is a hopeful and heartfelt story about human dignity and class mobilization.
