Joseph, a farmer, leads a solitary existence; tending to his land, livestock and going about his household chores. One day, his son Jose unexpectedly returns home. Their reunion is brief; they exchange a few words and each retires to his own room. Jose has left his job and is back home for good.
Don Palathara’s sophomore feature is an observational drama that quietly explores the intricacies of father-son dynamics. Through sparse dialogue and its focus on the mundane daily routines of its characters, this black and white film beautifully spotlights the starkness of the generational divide.
