When famous American novelist Lady Winsley is discovered dead on the remote Turkish island of Büyükada, the great detective Fergün is sent from Istanbul to solve the murder case. He quickly must face the well-kept secrets of this small place—where taboos are numerous and family ties close.
Part murder mystery, part skewering social satire, director Hiner Saleem’s Who Killed Lady Winsley? is a sarcastic subversion of the detective comedy. The film offers a lively evocation of the Agatha Christie model of sleuth fiction, while also denouncing narrow-mindedness and discrimination.
