Jack is mourning the death of his brother and struggling to get his life on track. His best friend and ex of his late sibling, Iris, intervenes and sends Jack to her family’s holiday pad in the San Juan Islands. Jack is welcomed by Iris’ sister Hanna, who is mending her wounds over a recent breakup.
Indie director Lynn Shelton scored perhaps her biggest success with this thoroughly thoughtful revision of the love triangle, starring both Emily Blunt and Shelton regular Rosemarie DeWitt. Subversive and sensitive, sweet, and consistently charming—part romantic comedy, part relationship drama.
