After working for three years in the USA, Filiberto returns to his hometown in Mexico a proud man. However, he finds his village in shambles, his mother dead, and the water supply controlled by an evil landowner. Even worse, his best friend Luis has married his ex-girlfriend.
When the adventurous protagonist of this homecoming saga arrives back in Mexico drinking Budweiser and wearing a baseball cap, he no longer resembles his former friends—and his old haunts have changed too. Blending action and melodrama, this is a border-crossing film of both highs and lows.
