Poppy is a 30 year old, happy-go-lucky school teacher who’s always playful, frank and rather friendly. While she goes about helping others and pursuing her hobbies, she also risks being misunderstood.
Rich with moving observation of human character, this film is quintessentially the work of director Mike Leigh. The two portraits here—an amazing Eddie Marsan and an unforgettable Sally Hawkins—are truly wonderful, by turns delightful and melancholy.
