While visiting an old friend, stage actor Gyung-soo meets a dancer who quickly falls for him. However, Gyung-soo’s friend also has feelings for her. As the relationship between the two men turns sour, Gyung-soo decides to go home and meets a married woman on the train who claims to know him.
Drawing inspiration from a Chinese legend, Hong Sang-soo’s fourth feature finds the inimitable auteur consolidating his love for structural rhymes. A film of two halves in which the second wittily echoes the first, this wistful early work is a significant stepping stone towards Hong’s mature style.
