Don Quixote and Sancho pursue their travels in search of adventure day and night. They ride through fields, talking about spirituality, chivalry and daily life. A growing bond of friendship unites them. New visual terms for a classic literary text by Catalan director Albert Serra.
Albert Serra’s re-imagining of the Don Quixote tale is more interested in the emotional layers of the characters than their oft-told fruitless quest. The film doesn’t show any windmills. Instead, it treads along raw, untamed landscapes, which accentuate the men’s achingly noble and mythical virtues.
