The film is a series of vignettes featuring “ghostly spiritual surfer guides, crop circle dance formations, time altering narrative leaps,” and performances by Sampha. Much of Process (both the film and the album) are dedicated to Sampha’s mother, who died of cancer in September 2015.
Kahlil Joseph, a contributor to Beyoncé’s Lemonade, directs this visual realization of award-winning musician Sampha’s debut album Process. Moving from Sampha’s family home in southwest London to his origins in Sierra Leone, this is a complex yet beautiful expression of loss & self-discovery.
