When Laura and Sandro meet at a party, she thinks she has found her prince charming, but their engagement is thrown into confusion when she meets Maxime. Meanwhile, Laura’s aunt and Sandro’s father end up bonding while they try to cope with each other’s own mid-life crisis.
Agnès Jaoui directs and acts in this modern-day fairy tale, which subverts the usual codes of the romantic comedy by serving up a healthy dose of cynicism. Jaoui’s partner and screenwriting collaborator, the much-missed Jean-Pierre Bacri, steals the show in brilliantly cantankerous form.
