A young Hasidic man, seduced by money, power and opportunity, becomes an international drug smuggler. At first shockingly naïve, he soon develops a talent for the business but things spiral out of control when he falls for the kingpin’s girlfriend, and arouses suspicion in his family and community.
Based on a true story, this ecstasy-fuelled coming-of-age film is part comedy and part thriller, finding an original angle on your typical New York City crime drama. Much is owed to the talents of its star Jesse Eisenberg, who would go on to star, just a few months later, in The Social Network.
