Geologist José Renato is sent to the scrublands of the Sertão, a semi-arid isolated region in the northeast of Brazil. The goal of his survey is to assess possible routes for a water canal from the region’s only voluminous river. For many of the region’s inhabitants, the canal will be a lifeline.
This experimental travelogue is a personal and inventive wonder, a geological expedition layered with emotion. A first-person voiceover guides us through this touching and unique road movie travelling to the barren landscapes of northern Brazil, while wandering on the uneven paths of a wounded soul.
