Synopsis

In 1961 NYC, folk singer Llewyn Davis fights to find fame amidst obstacles. Relying on the kindness of both friends and strangers, his journey spans Greenwich Village to Chicago club, where he awaits a music mogul who could give him the big break that he desperately needs.

MUBI's take

Returning to their melancholic mode, the Coens won yet another well-earned prize at Cannes for this touching and tragicomic period piece. Set in 1960s Greenwich Village at the beginnings of the folk music revival scene, it stars the brilliant Oscar Isaac (plus cat!) as our weary titular antihero.
