Saint Laurent

Synopsis

Saint Laurent focuses on the dark, hedonistic, and wildly creative decade (1967-1977) in Yves Saint Laurent’s life and career. The couturier becomes a myth, a brand and an avatar of his era, moving through a string of ateliers and nightclubs whose centers of gravity all seem to realign around him.

MUBI's take

Daring director Bertrand Bonello fashioned this stylish biopic of French designer YSL through episodic, period-detail perfection. Flaunting a starry cast with the late Gaspard Ulliel at its helm, Saint Laurent is an intoxicating ride through the performative artifice of fashion.
